The original nine holes were designed by architect Tom Vardon, brother of the famous English golfer Harry Vardon. Minnesota-based architect Paul N. Coates designed the second nine, which opened in 1959.

The club allows some access by non-member juniors, but otherwise guests are allowed only with a member.
