Prairiewood is one of five courses owned by the City of Fargo and operated by the city's parks department. It is designed for golfers with any level of ability, but is especially good for beginning and senior golfers. Since the course opened in 1976, numerous trees have matured here, creating something of a parkland setting.

Prairiewood is a great place to come and play if you are looking to get in a quick 9. There are some challenging holes here, to be sure. However, leave your putter in the car. Dispite the fact that the fairways and tee boxes tend to be well tended, the greens at Prairiewood are like shag carpet. Easily the worst greens I've ever played, and if they aren't hard enough because of the way they bounce, the greenskeeper has a wicked sense of humor. He likes to place the pins as close to the greens' edges as regulation allows.
