It's not everyday you can play on a scenic mountain course built in the 1920s that hosted a major tournament played by many legendary golfers. That's what you get at The Water Gap Country Club, the historic course in the Delaware Water Gap that was the site of the Eastern Open in the 1920s and retains its historic charm today.
The links style course, designed by Robert White, the first president of the PGA, is extremely hilly. It's not very long, but the hills produce many blind shots, with water on five holes and bunkers throughout that make it a real shotmakers course. There are clear landing areas amidst the hills, so you'll have the opportunity for some big drives, with clean approach shots to the undulating greens. The rolling greens are fast, but true, so you can sink a few putts if you hit them straight.
The par-72 course plays 6,237 from the tips, with only two par 5's and seven short par 4's, less than 350 yards. There are three shorter tee areas, so the course is accessible to all levels of play.
Course conditions are exceptional, with Rye and Kentucky bluegrass fairways, bent poa bluegrass greens and bluegrass tees.

Horrible conditions greens were slow & not very well maintained. Crabgrass everywhere &seven on the greens. Value was poor don't waste your money Scenery was ok &food after round was good. Hopefully they will invest some money into the course & it will be worth playing in about 5 years

Played on Veteran's Day and the course was empty. I enjoyed the course, although it is very short. The greens are well bunkered and several have deep drop-offs. There are oppurtunities to really score score low being so short. Dont be fooled, the greens require accuracy with wedge shots. Alot of houses surrond the course, but it is still has good scenery. With only two par 3's both provide a real test of accuarcy. Not much need to take the driver out of the bag on this course. The greens were in good shape overall, but the grounds crew didnt blew them off which effected the roll of several putts. Really enjoyed the country club feel of the place, but the new houses they put up took away the nostalgic feel.
